Mercedes-Benz has long been one of the most renowned and recognised car manufacturers on the planet. But what does the future hold for this widely celebrated brand?

Here are three brand new concepts and designs that have been announced by Mercedes-Benz in recent times.

Self-driving bus

Hailed as the ‘public transport of the future’, Mercedes have given us a glimpse into the future with their semi-autonomous bus.

State of the art cameras and radar systems mean that this bus is able to essentially drive itself, while avoiding obstacles, communicating with traffic lights and safely negotiating junctions with ease. The doors of the bus will only be able to open at designated bus stops, where it will stop automatically to let passengers board and alight.

The Future Bus has a top speed of 70 km/h on the open road and runs on CityPilot technology, which allows for its self-driving properties. Due to this new technology, the Future Bus can remember potholes and bumpy areas and change its driving style (i.e. its speed) accordingly.

However, the law would require a human operator to sit behind the wheel, just in case there’s an emergency that needs a human to intervene.

F 015 Luxury in Motion

This is a research vehicle that’s been designed to push the boundaries of vehicle design. The F 015 Luxury in Motion was first unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show 2015, and has been one of the most talked about vehicle demonstrations ever since.

The interior of the car has been designed to mimic a lounge-style environment, giving passengers the choice of being seated facing each other or in tandem. The light coloured wooden floor is another great way of making passengers feel like they’re in a home away from home.

The self-driving vehicle can be controlled by a  passenger, using gestures and eye-tracking. This enables the ‘driver’ to relax, safe in the knowledge that they have full control of the car should they need it.

Packed with more super-fast motor technology than ever before, the new Mercedes-AMG GT R. The AMG 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 is one of the most advanced engines ever built for a sports car. This futuristic vehicle can go from 0 -62 mph in a staggering 3.6 seconds.

There’s a new exclusive colour to this vehicle, Green Hell Mango, which is linked to the North Loop of the iconic Nurburgring racetrack.

The Mercedes-AMG GT R will hit sales floors in November 2016.
